No, Usted está obligado a ser el Presidente de la Comunidad por el plazo de duración que se prevea en los Estatutos, que normalmente suele ser de un año. En caso de que no quiera ejercer dicho cargo podrá acudir al Juzgado para iniciar el correspondiente “procedimiento de equidad” previsto en el artículo 17 de la Ley de Propiedad Horizontal por el que puede solicitar que sea relevado de su cargo, si bien es importante tener presente que para ello cuenta con el plazo máximo de un mes desde la fecha del nombramiento.
Sin embargo, esta revocación sólo será procedente por unas razones que deben ser suficientemente acreditadas y justificadas, bien sea por la falta de capacidad para el ejercicio del cargo, por motivos laborales que le impiden su dedicación a la Comunidad, por padecer alguna enfermedad o tener una avanzada edad, motivos que deberán ser apreciados por el Juez, pues en el caso de no tener ninguna causa justificativa para revocar el nombramiento tendrá la obligación de ejercer sus funciones como Presidente, ya que de lo contrario puede Usted incurrir en responsabilidad frente a la Comunidad.

No, you can´t. You have to be the President of the community for the period of duration that is foreseen in the statutes, which normally tends to be one year. If definitely, you are notinterested, you may appeal to the Court to start the corresponding “equity procedure” laid down in article 17 of the law of Horizontal property by which you can request to be relieved of this office, although it is important to bear in mind the maximum period of one month from the date of the appointment. However, this reversal is only coming for a few reasons that they should be sufficiently accredited and justified, either by the lack of capacity for the exercise of office, for business reasons that prevent their dedication to the community, by any disease or have a advanced age, reasons that should be appreciated by the judge, as in the case of not having no justificatory cause to revoke the appointment you will be in the obligation.
